As an emerging writer (unpublished), Simon, I rely on all the writing workshops, author talks, seminars and conferences to develop my writing and learn the ‘craft’. These will all disappear, I fear, once the industry collapses.

Sadly the young generation of writers and readers following on from us will have nothing to inherit and no opportunities available to them.

I’ve sent off a swag of letters and I don’t know what to do now other than keep sending them.
And your anger is understandable. It’s simply mindboggling that the reccomendations advocate destroying an industry, a vital self suppoting industry, giving government money to struggling authors and all so Big Retail can make more money.
